The Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) has awarded Marcos Fernández-Martínez the 2024 Pius Font i Quer Award for Life Sciences for his project Elemental Diversity: Towards a Functional Ecology Based on Elements. To mark the occasion, Marcos was interviewed by the IEC about his research and presented a talk on 20 January 2025, where he explored how biodiversity and the elemental composition of ecosystems shape their stability and resilience to environmental change.
